This course is for support professionals new to Windows 2000 who will be responsible for installing, configuring and supporting a network infrastructure that uses the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server. This course provides delegates with the information and skills needed to create and administer a networking services infrastructure design that supports the required network applications.

The course prepares candidates for Microsoft examinations 70-216 and 70-221.

Delegates should have successful completed the PTR Windows 2000 Operating System & Networking Essentials and Windows 2000 Professional and Server Support courses or have an equivalent knowledge level prior to attending this course.

Accelerated Windows 2000 & Active Directory Services - 5 days

The objective of this course is to provide Windows NT support professionals, who hold the MCSE for Windows NT 4 status, with the skills and knowledge necessary to support Windows 2000-based networks. The course is intended for system administrators who need to update their support skills from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows 2000.
The accelerated nature of the course means that some of the course content is designated as Home Study (HS) which needs to be studied during the first four evenings of the course, since knowledge of this material will be assumed on the subsequent days of the course.
Delegates attending this course with the stated pre-requisites will also gain a knowledge level required to take the Microsoft examinations 70-210, 70-215, 70-216, 70-217.

Delegates should hold the Windows NT 4 MCSE certification, or have an equivalent knowledge level prior to attending this course.

This course is for support professionals new to Windows 2000 who will be responsible for installing, configuring and supporting a Windows 2000 Active Directory infrastructure. This course provides delegates with the information and skills needed to create and administer an Active Directory infrastructure design that supports organisational, administrative and security requirements.

The course prepares delegates for the Microsoft examinations 70-217 and 70-219.

Delegates should have successful completed the PTR Windows 2000 Operating System & Networking Essentials, Windows 2000 Professional and Server Support and Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure – Design, Implementation & Administration courses or have an equivalent knowledge level prior to attending this course.

Windows 2000 Managing A Network Environment - 5 days

Windows 2000: Managing a Network Environment teaches you how to install, configure and manage the components that make up a Windows 2000 network. For example, you’re going to learn how to install, configure, and maintain DNS, DHCP, WINS, RAS, Web, and FTP servers. You’re also going to learn how to create and work with Active Directory objects and how to manage workstation settings and application deployment with Group Policy. Along the way, you’ll also learn how to manage and troubleshoot your network through various utilities.

Performance-Based Objectives

Install and configure the DHCP Server service and DHCP clients, as well as manage DHCP.
Install and configure the DNS Server service, and manage and troubleshoot DNS.
Work with and manage Active Directory objects, and organize and manage file and print
resources.
Implement Active Directory security, including access control and authority delegation.
Use Group Policies to manage workstation settings, and implement security and workstation maintenance.
Use Group Policies to assign, publish, and manage applications.
Manage and troubleshoot Active Directory Replication.
Install and configure Remote Access Service (RAS) servers and clients, and work with Virtual Private Networking (VPN).
Configure RAS security and manage remote access.
Configure Internet Connection Sharing, and configure and manage the Internet Connection Server.

The objective of this course is to provide delegates with the skills and knowledge to install and configure Windows 2000 Professional and Server in stand-alone or workgroup environments and as part of a Windows 2000 domain environment. Delegates will also be able to configure file, print and Terminal services on a Windows 2000 Server.

This course, in conjunction with PTR’s Windows 2000 Operating System and Network Essentials course, also prepares delegates for Microsoft examinations 70-210 and 70-215.

Delegates should have attended the Windows 2000 Operating System and Network Essentials course or have an equivalent knowledge level prior to attending this course.

This course has been designed to introduce students to the administration of Windows 2000 in a single domain environment and requires no prior knowledge of system administration.

In order to gain the most from the course, students should ideally posses the following:

*Experience of the Windows interface including, locating, creating, copying and manipulating folders and files and configuring the desktop.
*Knowledge of computer hardware such as hard disks, memory and CPUs.
*Knowledge of fundamental networking concepts including client/server networks, LANS and network operating systems.

The objective of this course is to provide delegates with the skills and knowledge required to implement and support Windows 2000 Desktop systems.

The course covers many of the core configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting tools required to support systems running Windows 2000 Professional, including how to recover a failed system, using and configuring the Microsoft Management Console, managing Offline Folders and evaluating the security settings of a desktop machine.
